Markets & Logistics
Forty markets, one specification.
A container to Jeddah and a container to Rotterdam leave the same mill and arrive under entirely different rules. Knowing which grade, which pack and which document set a market expects is most of what an exporter is for.
What each region asks for
Region names and markets match our homepage footprint. What follows is the part a buyer actually needs: the grade and pack each region prefers, and why.
Preferred grades and pack formats, by region
Middle East
UAE · Saudi Arabia · Oman · Kuwait
- Preferred grades
- Sella · Golden Sella · Raw
- Preferred packs
- 5 kg · 10 kg · 20 kg
The largest and most quality-literate Basmati market in the world. Buyers here can tell an aged grain from a fresh one by smell, and they will.
Europe
Germany · UK · Netherlands · Italy
- Preferred grades
- Steam · Raw
- Preferred packs
- 1 kg · 5 kg
The strictest residue regime we ship into. Every lot is tested to EU limits before stuffing, and the certificate of analysis goes with the documents.
Americas
USA · Canada · Brazil
- Preferred grades
- Steam · Raw · Golden Sella
- Preferred packs
- 1 kg · 5 kg · 10 kg
Ethnic retail plus a fast-growing mainstream premium segment. US consignments need prior notice and importer-of-record detail in place before the vessel sails.
Africa
Egypt · Nigeria · South Africa
- Preferred grades
- Golden Sella · Sella
- Preferred packs
- 25 kg · 50 kg
Volume-led and price-sensitive, with parboiled grades strongly preferred for their cooking yield and their tolerance of long service times.
Asia-Pacific
Australia · Vietnam · Malaysia
- Preferred grades
- Steam · Raw
- Preferred packs
- 1 kg · 5 kg · 10 kg
Biosecurity paperwork is the gate here. Australia and New Zealand inspect on arrival and will reject on documentation as readily as on cargo.
Ports and logistics
We ship from four west-coast ports and choose per shipment on the sailing schedule rather than out of habit.
| Port | State | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Mundra | Gujarat | The widest sailing schedule to Europe and the Gulf. |
| Nhava Sheva | Maharashtra | Highest container volume in India; the best consolidation options for part loads. |
| Pipavav | Gujarat | Fast turnaround, with strong Gulf and East Africa connections. |
| Kandla | Gujarat | Closest to the mill by road; economical for full-container bulk. |
Incoterms
We quote FOB, CFR and CIF as standard, and will work to EXW or DAP where your freight arrangement beats ours. We will say so when it does.
Container loading
Indicative net loads are on our products page. Actual loadability depends on pack size and whether the container is floor-loaded or palletised.
The document set
First-time importers usually discover this list at the worst possible moment. Here it is in advance.
Commercial invoice
The contractual record of what was sold, at what price, on what terms.
Packing list
Pack format, count, net and gross weight, marks and numbers.
Bill of lading
Title to the cargo. Released against payment on the agreed terms.
Certificate of origin
Issued by the chamber of commerce. Determines duty treatment in most destinations.
Phytosanitary certificate
Issued by the plant quarantine authority. Confirms the consignment meets the importing country's plant health rules.
Fumigation certificate
Where the destination or the vessel requires it, recording treatment, dosage and duration.
Certificate of analysis
Physical parameters and residue results for the specific lot, not for the mill in general.
Non-GMO and non-radiation declaration
Routinely requested by EU and Gulf buyers.
Halal certificate
For destinations that require it.
